CS2 activation servers' shutdown: In January 2013, Adobe Photoshop CS2 (9.0), with some other CS2 products, was released with an official serial number, due to the technical glitch in Adobe's CS2 activation servers (see Creative Suite 1 and 2).
On December 15, 2012, activation servers for CS2 applications were shut down. Registered users who wished to continue using GoLive CS2 after that date could download a new installer from Adobe with a new serial number that could be activated without contacting a server.[2] Some users and websites had interpreted that Adobe was giving CS2 applications away for free, but Adobe clarified that these were only for registered users and began requiring a valid existing serial number to access downloads.[3][4] In May 2019, Adobe stopped providing CS2 downloads entirely.[5]

The CS2 downloads page is very up front with the needed information. There are download links per product or for the whole Creative Suite 2 bundle and within the table, the serial numbers are simply available for the taking with only registering a (free) Adobe ID as the only requirement but even that has been circumvented with direct links being posted.
Effective December 13, Adobe disabled the activation server for CS2 products and Acrobat 7 because of a technical glitch. These products were released over 7 years ago and do not run on many modern operating systems. But to ensure that any customers activating those old versions can continue to use their software, we issued a serial number directly to those customers.
